Amazing Svalbard: prices at a Norwegian supermarket

In the middle of the Norwegian city of Longyearbyen, on a faraway Svalbard, lies a shopping street on which almost all the shops and bars of this northern town are located. Norway is itself an expensive country, but Svalbard even stands apart here. There are no roads here, food and everything else can be brought either by sea or by plane. In addition, special laws apply here, for example, in shops you can buy only two liters of strong alcohol per month, and only permanent residents of Svalbard can do this.

Let's see how much it costs in a Norwegian supermarket.

But before we go to the supermarket, I’ll tell you about this small house. It's a bit of a second hand, but things can be taken here for free. They say that there is a lot of equipment that tourists leave. There are new things that just didn't fit anyone.

I couldn’t go inside and check, the house is open only a few hours a week.

Okay, let's go to the supermarket. Shops open at 10 in the morning. At the entrance is an announcement that entry with weapons is prohibited. Let me remind you that without weapons it is forbidden to go outside the village.

In the supermarket, absolutely everything is for sale.

The selection is sufficient.

Let's start with a souvenir.

Prices are in Norwegian kroner, 1 kroon = 8 rubles. I know that it will be lazy to multiply in your mind, so I will write in rubles too. A mug with the Norwegian name Svalbard - 784 rubles.

Fridge magnets. 32 crowns or 256 rubles, in the museum, by the way, magnets are 75 crowns. But the magnets here are cool, metallic.

Alcohol department. I didn’t go inside because ...

The first inscription in Russian, which I saw in a supermarket. If you want a drink, go to the bar. Yes, there is more expensive.

Peas - from 110 rubles to 316 rubles. The bank for 184.90 kroons says Russike Erter - Russian peas. I do not know that it is sold for almost 1,500 rubles.

"Sanction." Not so cheap. 64.5 kroons per package is 516 rubles. On the price tags small numbers indicate the price per kilogram.

All sorts of cheeses.

Apples of all sorts.

On the price tags from 223 to 400 rubles per kilogram.

Eggs are a little more expensive - 400 rubles per dozen.

Milk. 230 rubles per liter.
