The snow and ice festival in Germany begins with 100 tons of ice and 100 tons of snow in a special room where artists have been working on this fragile material for 4 months. They turn shapeless boulders into real works of art.

The festival is held in Mainz, Germany.

Last year, it was housed in a large warehouse that was once a post office.

This year the event was canceled, because they could not find an equally suitable place for it.

After all, you can’t just take and dump 200 tons of ice anywhere.

A 10-degree frost constantly reigned in the room, which did not allow the figures to melt.

Artists worked in warm jackets, hats and gloves.
