The 12 most secure countries in the world according to the latest version of the Institute for Economics and Peace

The Research Center of the Institute of Economics and Peace recently published the Global Peace Index 2017, which introduced the safest and most dangerous countries in the world.

When drafting the report, experts examined 163 countries based on how peaceful they were. The place in the final ranking was influenced by 23 factors, including the level of homicides, political terror and deaths due to internal conflicts.

The study found that 93 countries became more peaceful compared to 2016, and 68 countries became less peaceful. Thus, it can be argued that the world has become a little better since last year.

It is also interesting that of the 12 safest countries, 8 are located in Europe. And the most dangerous are Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

This is how the rating of the safest states of our planet looks like:

Australia

Japan

Ireland

Switzerland

Canada

Slovenia

Czech

Denmark

Austria

Portugal

New Zealand

Iceland
