A fake city in the USA that looks ordinary from the air, but in reality is not what it seems

In wartime, secrecy and savvy are the foundations of survival. And although we can never learn all the secrets, however, many interesting facts are still open to the public. One of these is the existence of a fake city in the United States, which was built to hide an important military facility.

From the air, the town seems completely ordinary. Any enemy Japanese pilot, for the deception of which he was created at that time, the locality would not cause any suspicion. But if you look into it and walk through the streets, it immediately becomes clear that something is wrong here. Houses are deaf boxes, a little taller than human height, trees and bushes are a bunch of wire and feathers, mounted on wooden frames. Cars are artificial imitation. And even the fences are just small rooted posts. In fact, the city is just a decoration that hides the Boeing 2 military aircraft factory. The cover appeared in 1944 and was created under the guidance of a Hollywood decorator.

What happened at that time under the "city"? There, about 30 thousand workers worked every day to create bombers. After the war, the need for an artificial city disappeared and it was dismantled.
