Tienmenshan - the coolest cable car and the longest serpentine in the world

Our stay in Zhangjiajie is drawing to a close. We have a plane to Chengdu tonight. And tomorrow there will be a long journey through Sichuan to Sigunyanshan. Therefore, we decided that we would not go to Zhangjiajie Park again. Yes, it seems they’ve already looked there all the basic. Moreover, the weather today has deteriorated again - the whole sky is again tightened. We decided to sleep until we wake up. And then climb Mount Tianmen - Heaven's Gate.

Oddly enough, we wake up at 8. We pack up, leave things for storage at the hostel.

To begin with, we finally decide to see what we have in the courtyard of the house where the hostel is.

And there we have something like a small local history museum in the fresh air.

Alright, it's time for the mountain.

Her unusual silhouette is visible right outside the city.

On the way, we buy some kind of whitewash bun for breakfast. We withdraw money from an ATM (in China there are a lot of them, and you can withdraw money without problems almost everywhere).

The Tianmen Mountain cable car starts right from the city, very close to the train station and bus station.

And it leads out there, to the highest peak out of that cliff.

Tienmenshan - Heavenly Gate Mountain.

The longest and steepest cableway in the world leads to the top of the mountain, in the cabin of which we now rise. The cabins creep up for a long, long time, at first quite low, above the city, above the fields, above the gardens.

And then - a sharp rise up.

And this is only an intermediate station.

On the way down here you can (and should) get out and use specially trained buses to climb the infernal serpentine to the famous hole in the mountain.

The steep serpentine road Tongtian (ong天) with 99 turns rises to the Heavenly Gate cave. The name of the road "Heavenly Highway" is not an exaggeration, it is one of the most impressive serpentines in the world.

The length of the route is less than 11 km, and the distance between turns is from 200 to 1300 m. In some places, the road passes above itself.

And after the intermediate station on the ledge, the cable car takes off almost vertically altogether - in front of us is a sheer cliff of several hundred meters.

At the bottom of the incredible serpentine bus climb the mountain.

This cable car is considered the longest and steepest in the world. Its length is 7455 m, spans reach 500 m!

In some places, the road rises sharply at an angle of 70º, suddenly crashing right into the clouds. An unforgettable experience! For the most fastidious - the main parts for the construction of the cableway were imported from the French company ROMA.

A mountain ticket (mainly a cable car and a bus) costs 258 yuan + 3 yuan - an administrative fee.

Tourism in China is an expensive undertaking.
